Garbage Pickup and Recycling in the Town of New Hope
TOWN WIDE GARBAGE & RECYCLING EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2022
Effective January 1, 2022 the Town of New Hope is implementing town-wide garbage and recycling pick-up replacing the current individual subscription practice. To accomplish this the Town has entered into a seven-year contract with Harter’s Fox Valley Disposal to provide these services to all households in New Hope.
The Town of New Hope is one of the last towns in Portage County to go to a town-wide system and the decision to go in this direction was based on resident demand due to concerns with the cost and level of service currently available. Under the new arrangement service will be maintained and costs to households will be considerably reduced.
Harter’s will be charging the Town $16.00 per month per household for garbage and recycling services. To recover this cost a Special Charge of approximately $196.00 will appear on the household’s property tax bill received in 2023.
The week of December 13th Harter’s will be dropping two containers at your address, one to be used for garbage and one for recycling. Included with the containers will be instructions, pick-up schedule and other details. Garbage will be picked up weekly and recycling every other week. Large item pick-up will also be available for a charge to the household.
Here are the instructions from Harter’s: Harter’s instructions Recycling details: Harter’s Recycling Guidelines
If you do not want the containers from Harter’s please complete, sign and return the attached form: Refusal of Service form
IMPORTANT: Residents who currently subscribe for garbage and recycling pick-up are responsible to notify their current provider to cancel services due to a mandatory town-wide service change.
